- Bio
I'm working at the intersection of traditional media, NGO's, Web 3.0 and mobile. I have worked on large integration projects, acting as a bridge between the creative people and IT. I test and review emerging technology to see how this fits in with the new generation of story-telling. I spend about a third of my time writing and producing, a third of my time doing strategic consulting at senior management level and the final third travelling around meeting people and sharing new ideas. I also mix purely commercial activities with projects that, in some small way, help others in developing countries. They are paid in smiles! I am also involved in looking at how radio and TV can be used to re-start conversations within communities in West Africa. operate where broadcast, mobile and Web 3.0 overlap, examining how digital storytelling is taking a hold thanks to the emergence of new and relevant technology. I have been excited about completing a media lab in Benin that is testing out relevant technology in Africa, especially as we have been concentrating on energy efficient ways of operating community media in that region. But, most of all, I have met some incredibly inspiring people on my travels. I have a heritage in traditional broadcasting (1980-2003) working mainly in the international broadcasting sector. I produced and hosted Radio Netherlands' Media Network programme from 1981 to 2001 when it switched to a web-only production.
