Santiago Mapa Verde version zero
Ciudad Viva produced its first set of green maps in 2006. The methodology demonstrated how participatory map-making helps people see their neighborhoods not only as they are today but also how (for better or worse) they can change. These pilot experiences led to the ambitious and elaborate citywide mapping project described above, which incorporated sophisticated computer aids, multiple designers and a team of researchers and fact-checkers. But just as important as its technical capacity is Ciudad Viva’s consolidated programs in the areas of transport, recycling and preservation of urban and cultural patrimony, which will form the nucleus of online mapping communities.
